すくっと立ち上がり、走って家に帰ります
I stand up straight and run home.
帰ってきたキキ。寝てるジジに向って。今日行くよ！決意が冷めないように今の勢いのままです
Kiki returns home. She says to the sleeping Jiji, “I’m going today! I’ll keep this momentum going so my resolve doesn’t fade.”
何？って感じです What? That’s how I feel.
おかあさんに向って。天気がいいから今日に決めたの！
To Mom: I decided to do it today because the weather is nice!
お母さんはお薬の調合中です。Mom is preparing the medicine.
今日行くことにしたの。えっ～I decided to go today. Huh?
急に出発するって、昨日言ってたことと違うじゃないとあきれる母
“You’re leaving so suddenly? That’s not what you said yesterday!” her mother exasperated.
でもひと月先が晴れるかわからないもの
待ちなさいという言葉にも耳をかさずに、行ってしまうキキ。
Kiki leaves without listening to anyone telling her to wait.
とにかく、観葉植物とか花がいっぱいある部屋です。それと実験器具のビーカーなどの小物。千と千尋よりも楽に描けるかと思いましたが、そうでもなく。描くのにけっこう時間が掛かります。
Basically, it’s a room full of houseplants and flowers. And also small items like beakers for laboratory equipment. I thought it would be easier to draw than Spirited Away, but that wasn’t the case. It takes quite a bit of time to draw.
このおばあさんも魔女？杖がそういう風に見えます。コキリさんに薬を調合してもらってるのを待っているのですね。Is this old woman a witch too? Her wand certainly looks like one. It seems she’s waiting for Kokiri to prepare her potion.
あなたが１３歳の時のこと覚えているわ。I remember when you were thirteen.
１３歳で家を出たのはお母さんも同じだったんです。だから早すぎると言ってはいましたが、とてもうれしそうです。さすがは私の子という感じでしょうか。
My mother also left home when she was 13. So, although she said it was too early, she seems very happy. I guess she thinks, “That’s my child for you.”
ここらへんから着色のクオリティー上げていきます。From here on, I’ll be improving the quality of the coloring.
空を飛ぶことしか覚えなかったので薬も私で終わりですと愚痴ってはいますが。
She complains that she’s the last one to receive the medicine because all she’s learned is to fly.
今頃になって行くななんて、どういうことというキキの言葉に反論。
Kiki asks what he means by telling her not to go now, to which Jiji retorts.
旅立ちはもっと慎重にするべきだとジジ。

ジジの表情もキキと同じように豊かに描かれてます。宮崎先生の作品で表情が豊かなのはトトロと魔女の宅急便です。Jiji’s expressions are depicted just as vividly as Kiki’s. Of Miyazaki’s works, Totoro and Kiki’s Delivery Service are known for their expressive characters.
停止して見ると、ものすごい表情がコロコロ変わります。それがとても面白い。変顔だったので描いてみました。If you pause the video, you’ll see that its facial expressions change dramatically. It’s really funny. I drew it because it was making a funny face.
どうなるのか心配だという、ここらへんのセリフ、キキの心の声をジジの鳴き声に投影している幻なんじゃないか、もしかしたら最初からニャーと鳴いていただけなのかもしれないなんて少し思ってしまいました。いや違うという意見もあるだろうし、いろいろな見方ができます。
The lines around here, expressing concern about what will happen, made me wonder if Kiki’s inner thoughts were projected onto Jiji’s meowing, creating a hallucination, or perhaps he was just meowing from the beginning. Of course, there will be differing opinions, and there are many ways to interpret it.

私は楽しみでワクワクしていると言ってますが、ジジの言葉が心の中にあって葛藤があるのかなとも思えます。１３歳で家はなかなか出れませんからね。怖いはずです。強がってる？のかな

キキのこんな笑顔はこれが最後です。家族といっしょに安心して暮らしているからこその笑顔
で、1人になってからは、難しい顔をする場面が多かったように思います。
魔女は表情が豊かに描かれている作品です。

・・・・ない。キキと先輩魔女の会話をよそに、ジジと先輩ネコとのにらみ合い。

列車です。ジジがダメだと止めますが It’s a train. Grandpa will stop it if he says it’s no good.
入ってしまいます It goes in
今晩はここで眠ることにします I’ll sleep here tonight.
翌朝・・・next morning···
ガサガサッ！！牛が食事をすると Rustle, rustle! When a cow eats…
キキの足が飛び出します Kiki’s feet pop out.
わっ！！と叫ぶキキに、ジジもびっくり Kiki screamed, “Wow!”, and Jiji was also surprised.
ワラに潜り込むと When you burrow into the straw
ウシたちのごはんの上で眠っていたようです It appears he was sleeping on top of the cows’ food.
列車から出ると初めて見る海に感動するキキ

他の車もパニックに。キキはグルグル回りながら辛うじて車をよける。

人込みの中を暴走して騒ぎを起こしてしまいます

通りを過ぎて曲がったところで、やっと止まります。キキは後ろの様子が気になりますが

Once she land on the ground, you become the center of attention.
この人達はたまたま信号が変わるのを待っていた人たちなんですがビックリ！！
These people were just waiting for the traffic light to change, but what a surprise!!
キキは魔女のキキです。こっちはジジと自己紹介を始めます
Kiki is Kiki the witch. And here’s Jiji introducing himself.
この町に住むことにします。なんて言われても、そりゃ困りますよね。自己紹介されても・・・
“I’ve decided to live in this town.” That’s a bit confusing, isn’t it? Even if they introduce themselves…
信号が青に変わってみんな行ってしまいます
The traffic light turns green and everyone goes off.
行き遅れたおばさんにそうなの・・・良かったわ。とそっけなく言われて行ってしまいます
The older woman, who’s past her prime, coldly says, “Oh really… That’s good,” and walks away.
「はっ」と聞こえないぐらいの声がもれます。
A sound so faint it’s barely audible escapes my lips.
1人ぽつんと取り残されるキキ
Kiki is left all alone.
そこへ警官が・・・走ってきます。さきほどの騒ぎですね
Then a police officer comes running… It must be from the commotion earlier.
町で飛ぶなんて・・・・だめだ。あぶなく大事故だぞ
Flying over town…that’s a bad idea. It’s dangerous and could cause a major accident.
私は魔女だから飛びますと言い返しますが、警官は親の連絡先をキキに聞きます
She retorts that I can fly because I am a witch, but the police officer asks Kiki for her parents’ contact information.
家に電話すると聞き、急に不安になるキキ。子供はいつも親に心配をかけたくないと思っています
Kiki suddenly becomes anxious when she hears that they’re going to call home. Children always want to avoid worrying their parents.
そこへタイミングよくドロボーという声が
Just then, a voice called out, “Thief!”
キキにここにいろと言い残し
Leaving Kiki with the words, “Stay here”
行ってしまいます The police officer is leaving.
今のうちにと、その場を去ります。
Kiki decides to leave while she still can.
キキはとても怒っています。うまくいくと思っていたのに、いろんな人に迷惑をかけてしまって。
自分に腹が立っているのです。
Kiki is very angry. She thought everything would go well, but she ended up causing trouble for so many people.
She’s furious with herself.
ジジはキキの顔を見て心配そうに「キキ・・・」と言いますが、今は何も言わないでという
かんじなのではないでしょうか
Jiji looks at Kiki’s face and says “Kiki…” with a worried expression, but it seems like he’s telling her not to say anything right now.
That’s the kind of feeling I get.
プープー！！ ジジが振り返る
Beep beep!! Gigi turns around.
少年がねーねーと声をかけてきます
A boy calls out, “Hey, hey!”
ドロボーって言ったのは俺なんだぜ！！と言われますが
キキはとても機嫌が悪く、完全に無視します。
君、魔女だろ？見たよ。本当にホウキで飛ぶんだね！！
そのホウキちょっと見せてくれない？と矢継ぎ早に話しかけます。今のキキは誰とも
話はしたくないのに、かなり迷惑に思っています
“I’m the one who called you a thief!” he says, but
Kiki is in a very bad mood and completely ignores him.
“You’re a witch, aren’t you? I saw you. You really do fly on a broom!”
“Could I see that broom for a bit?” he asks rapidly. Kiki doesn’t want to talk to anyone right now, and she finds him quite annoying.
おまけに友達から「トンボー！！朝っぱらからナンパかよー」なんてからかわれて、
キキは相当気分が悪くなったことでしょう
On top of that, his friends teased him, saying, “Tombo!! Trying to pick up girls first thing in the morning?”
Kiki must have felt pretty bad.
友達にバカーと言いながら上機嫌なトンボ。キキの機嫌などおかまいなしで付いていきます
Tombo is in high spirits, calling his friends idiots, and follows Kiki without paying any attention to her mood.
頼むよー。ちょっとだけ。いいだろう？
無表情だったキキもだんだんと顔が怒ってきます。

Even Kiki, who had been expressionless, gradually starts to look angry.
そしてついには、「助けてくれてありがとう！！でもあなたに助けてって言ったおぼえは
ないわ！！」「それにきちんと紹介もされてないのに女性に声をかけるなんて失礼よ！！」
