絵の制作について説明していきます。I will now explain the process of creating the artwork.
絵を描いていきます I will draw a picture.
DVDを再生して描きたい場面で停止。
Play the DVD and pause it at the scene you want to draw.

It’s a very beautiful and lovely picture.
まずヒミを描きますFirst, I’ll draw Himi.
始めはざっくりと。ぜんぜん描けていませんが始めはこんなものです。
すぐに描けない！とあきらめないで。ここからが始まりです
Start roughly. It’s not very well drawn yet, but this is how it starts.
Don’t give up just because you can’t draw it right away! This is just the beginning.
少し修正してもまだぜんぜん違います
Even after making some minor adjustments, it’s still completely different.
少しずつ修正して近づけていきます We’ll gradually make adjustments to get closer to the ideal.
まだです・・・Not yet…
手を先に描いておいて Draw the hands first.
ティーポットを重ねて描きます。I’ll draw the teapots stacked on top of each other.

キャラクターの顔だけは正確に描くように気をつけて

I made sure to draw the characters’ faces accurately.
ペンで描いて完成。あとは着色です
絵を上手に描くのに必要なのは技術ではありません。
たくさん描いて、しっかり上下、左右の位置をチェックすること。
The drawing is finished with a pen. All that’s left is coloring.
What’s needed to draw well isn’t technique.
It’s drawing a lot and carefully checking the top/bottom and left/right positions.
他に大事だと思っていることが、神社に行って手を合わせることです。
（必ずしも神社に行く必要はなく、どこでもお祈りはできます）
意味がないと思うかもしれませんが、意味もなくこれほどたくさんの神社が日本に
あるわけではありません。絶大な力に守られて人は生きていられるのです。
Another thing I consider important is going to a shrine and offering a prayer.
(You don’t necessarily need to go to a shrine; you can pray anywhere.)
You might think it’s meaningless, but there aren’t so many shrines in Japan for no reason.
People are able to live because they are protected by an immense power.
子供たちはお賽銭を入れなくてもかまいません。毎日行けるなら毎日行ってみましょう。
そこで言うべき言葉は・・・・・・・・・・。です
何かを感じる瞬間がきっと訪れると思います。
Children don’t need to put money in the offering box. If you can go every day, try going every day.

I’m sure you’ll have a moment where you feel something.
次は着色です。このまま続きます Next is coloring. We’ll continue from here.
色鉛筆でヒミをまず塗っていきます。First, I’ll color in the secret using colored pencils.
ヒミは描けているようなので、このまま進めます。もし、おかしいなと思えばやり直します。
塗ってみないとわからないこともありますので。ここまで色鉛筆だけを使用しています。
It looks like the secret is drawn, so I’ll continue as is. If something looks wrong, I’ll redo it.
Sometimes you can’t tell until you color it. I’ve only used colored pencils so far.

これで色鉛筆はだいたい終了です。
色鉛筆での着色方法 How to color with colored pencils
色鉛筆には様々な種類があります。値段の高いのや安いもの。肝心なのは値段ではありません。値段の高い色鉛筆を使えば、良い絵になるとはいえません。
There are many different types of colored pencils, ranging from expensive to inexpensive. However, price is not the most important factor; using expensive colored pencils does not guarantee a good drawing.
一般的には値段の高い有名なメーカーのもの、ファーバーカステル、カリスマカラー、フォルベインなどは芯が柔らかく、発色が濃いです。そういう柔らかい芯の色鉛筆も使いますが、芯の固いものも私は使っていました。固い芯の色鉛筆は安価ですが、私には絶対に必要なものでした。
Generally, products from famous, high-end brands—such as Faber-Castell, Karisma Color, and Holbein—feature soft cores and rich color saturation. While I do use those soft-core colored pencils, I also used ones with hard cores. Hard-core colored pencils are inexpensive, yet they were absolutely essential for me.
初めに固い芯で塗ります。次に柔らかい芯のもので発色を高め、もう一度固い芯の色鉛筆を使います。
Start by applying color with a hard-core pencil. Next, use a soft-core pencil to intensify the color, then finish by using the hard-core pencil again.
ですから、手を抜かないで塗る場合、最低３回、多い時には４～５回塗ったりする場合もありました。色塗りは本当に苦痛でした。我慢と根気です。
So, when I didn’t cut corners, I would apply at least three coats—and sometimes as many as four or five. The coloring process was truly agonizing; it required patience and perseverance.
絵の具で窓の外と後ろの花を描きます。
I’ll paint the view outside the window and the flowers behind it with paint.
これで一応完成とします。
かなり原画とは違います。植物は見てもわからないので、自分の頭の中でイメージを
作り、それを描いてみました。いつもより丁寧に描いています。絵はどこまでも上達の余地
があるので面白いです
I’ll consider this finished for now.
It’s quite different from the original drawing. Since I can’t identify plants just by looking at them, I created an image in my mind and then drew it.
I drew it more carefully than usual.
Drawing is interesting because there’s always room for improvement.
